Ed : My car was recently stolen from my home in Orlanda. How can I prevent the car theft since now I find that my insurance has really gone high.

Response : There are certain cars which can easily be stolen, however, I will go into this information at another time. You have my sincere sympathizes, but thousands of unsuspecting motorists are carjacked every year.

To minimize the danger of being carjacked:
1.Think of saving your life first. Only then, think of your car and what’s in it.
2.If another car bumps your car, stay inside with the windows shut and the door locked and drive to the nearest police or fire station.
3. Don’t stop at isolated pay phones, cash machines or newspaper machines where you could become a carjacking victim.
4.Stay alert to people lurking near or moving toward your parked car.
5. Always keep the windows of your car shut and doors locked, whether you’re in or out of your car.
6.Park only in well-lighted areas.

To prevent your car from being stolen:
1.Keep your registration card in your wallet instead of your glove compartment.
2.Use paint or an indelible marker to put the vehicle identification number (VIN) under the engine hood and trunk lid and on the battery. This number is usually found on the dashboard on the driver’s side of the car.
3.If you have to leave personal property in your car, leave it in the trunk.
4.Keep your car in a garage and lock the garage door.
5.Use a security device like a steering wheel lock or a gear shift column lock.
Now, comming to your high insurance, I would advise you to compare auto insurance quote online – you will suprise the choices and the low rates you get. Check it out.

Maria : I have just started driving and am always worried about the weather conditions-wind and rain. I feel that an accident would increase my auto insurance rate, what can I do?

Response : I can understand your apprehension. Weather conditions like wind and rain pose special challenges for drivers. They can cause accidents and increase your auto insurance rate. The winds and rains in certain areas of our country the USA are very high especially in Florida. If you have a high-profile vehicle such as a trailer or motor home, consider staying off the roads until the winds die down. These vehicles tend to be overtaken by strong gusts of wind, posing real danger for drivers.

The commencement of rain is the most dangerous time to be on the road, as water mixes with road oils and dirt, creating a slick surface. Avoid hydroplaning by slowing down and maintaining traction between your tires and the road surface. Turn on your lights so other drivers can see your vehicle, and use your defroster or air conditioner to improve your visibility.

Severe thunderstorms can spawn tornados and hail. Monitor your radio news station during these conditions. The safest place to be in case of a tornado is outside the car. Pull over and find a ditch or other low-lying area and lie face down to protect yourself from flying debris. In a hailstorm, pull under an overpass or bridge to seek shelter while driving. In a hurricane, head inland to high ground before the storm approaches land.

Following these severe weather driving tips will help you from sliding off the road, having an accident, or suffering even greater damage to yourself and your property in unfavorable weather conditions.

Jerry. Seattle : Are air bags safe? Do insurance companies offer auto insurance discounts for them?

Air bags are life savers and have helped in minimizing the injury to the driver year. According to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration this is about 30% for drivers and 27% for passengers.

The insurance companies would offer auto insurance discounts for cars having air-bags and this is a common inbuilt feature of many cars. If the air bag is stolen or it deploys it would be covered by your auto insurance policy provided you have comprehensive car insurance.

However, airbags can cause injury and damage because of the force with which it blows up causing injury to small adults sitting close to the wheel, pregnant ladies or elders or even infants sitting in the rear seat. To prevent this injury, take the following steps:

  • Wear your seat belt. This should be mandatory for all children or adults seating in the back seat also.
  • Infants must be placed in rear-facing car seats and only in the back seat.
  • Adults having a small structure should move back at least 10 inches from airbag cover.

Ensure your and your passengers safety and save car insurance premiums.

Small distractions can lead to grave consequences for yourself and others on the road. This can increase your car insurance tremendously. Here is a recent real example on what pre-occupations when you are driving can lead too.

Deborah Matis-Engle a woman from California was test-messaging on her cell-phone and crashed into a line of stopped vehicles. The vehicle she collided with burst into flames and killed 46-year –old Petra Winn.

On the 3rd April Deborah was sentenced by a judge in Redding, California to six-years in prison. The investigators of the accident found that Deborah was speeding and text messaging when she slammed into the other vehicle. She had paid several bills by cell phone in the moments before the crash and this was the negligence and reason for the crash.

This is only one of the many accidents which is the result of distractions and which is the cause of high auto insurance. Be careful and drive safe to save life.  Surf online and check out for cheap online for quotes. Compare auto insurance quotes and save your hard earned money.
